May he rest in peace.
Just A Crinkled Picture
you stand in raw, piercing wind
swirls of grey clouds of pale light
listening to the broken song of empty trees
brittle brown leaves clatter
down the lonely path
skeletons of days in the sun
you hear the wind sighing
a mournful tune
quiet stories, wordless
memories of happier times
you finger the paper, so wrinkled and worn
the soft picture blurry from tears
one moment, one memory clung to
an ache that bites the heart
smiling faces look up from your hand
captured joy- remnants
for smile no longer appear
alone on the street you hear calling
an echo laugher you shared
a tear escapes from your hold
feel it slide down your cheek
you kneel to touch the weather worn stone
a grey reminder of pain
a loss, so fresh, a wound still bleeding
crying into the silence
trace the carved letters
meaningless phrases
a life taken from you
a golden heart stopped beating
tears slip under closed eyes
try to ease the pain
knowing happiness is just a crinkled picture
a memory left behind
swirls of grey clouds of pale light
listening to the broken song of empty trees
brittle brown leaves clatter
down the lonely path
skeletons of days in the sun
you hear the wind sighing
a mournful tune
quiet stories, wordless
memories of happier times
you finger the paper, so wrinkled and worn
the soft picture blurry from tears
one moment, one memory clung to
an ache that bites the heart
smiling faces look up from your hand
captured joy- remnants
for smile no longer appear
alone on the street you hear calling
an echo laugher you shared
a tear escapes from your hold
feel it slide down your cheek
you kneel to touch the weather worn stone
a grey reminder of pain
a loss, so fresh, a wound still bleeding
crying into the silence
trace the carved letters
meaningless phrases
a life taken from you
a golden heart stopped beating

try to ease the pain
knowing happiness is just a crinkled picture
a memory left behind
